Chief Executive Officer

Scott Cruickshank is the Chief Executive Officer at Talus. He has more than 20 years of executive management experience leading Financial Technology companies. Most recently, Scott was Chairman and CEO of CSID (sold to Experian in 2016), the leading provider of global enterprise level identity protection and fraud detection solutions and technologies.

Prior to CSID, from 2006-2010, Scott served as President & COO of CyberSource Corporation (sold to Visa in 2010), a global provider of online payment solutions that streamlined payment, fraud management and payment security for eCommerce merchants. Scott led the firm’s global sales, marketing and customer support functions, and he also served as a board director of the company from 2005-2007.

Prior to joining CyberSource, Scott was president and COO of Qsent (sold to TransUnion in 2006), and before that, he served as chief sales and marketing officer at Chase Paymentech where he led sales, customer care, marketing and service operations functions. Scott was senior vice president of First Data Merchant Services and managing partner of Bank One Payment Services, prior to the company’s merger with Chase Paymentech in 1999.

Scott currently serves on the board of directors of ClickBank, and is an advisory board member to Investcorp Technology Fund IV. He also served on the board of directors of London-based Skrill Holdings from 2010 – 2013.

Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with emphasis in Finance and Marketing from the University of Nebraska-Kearney.

Dan Devlin is the President & CIO of Talus. With over 25 years of experience in the financial & mission-critical transaction processing industries, Dan brings seasoned judgment and experienced business perspective to his work – whether as a technologist, entrepreneur, senior executive, board member, venture investor or consultant.

Dan is the founder and CEO of Transaction Labs, a next generation payment processor and targeted marketing system. It represents the culmination of years of research, development and real world experience.

Dan was a founder of MoneyCard, Inc. a financial services company providing banking services to the “under banked” US consumer market. Dan was also a founder of Wired Benefits, Inc. – a medical payments company.

Dan was the founder of Chockstone, Inc. and served as its CTO and chairman of the board (Chockstone was acquired by Heartland Payment Systems in 2008) where he brought together an unrivaled team of experienced, industry experts to implement his vision for a new kind of stored value system in which individual consumer experience is customizable at the point of sale.

As Chief Scientist for Excite@Home, Dan’s group lead the company in the development and operation of a wide variety of commercial offerings, including a successful suite of merchant commerce solutions.

Dan cofounded Pure Payments, Inc. (subsequently SurePay and acquired by First Data) a financial transaction system supporting over 5000 e-commerce merchants.
At First Data Merchant Services, Dan served as Chief Architect where he was involved with a wide variety of projects and initiatives including the first web based payment gateway with Netscape, the forerunner to PCI certification as well as the integration of eight major payment processing systems.

Earlier in his career Dan held a number of technical management, product planning and design & development positions with a number of cutting edge companies, including: Charles Schwab, & Co (as a member of a small advanced technology team chartered to solve the scalability & reliability issues of their massive trading platform), Hewlett Packard, IBM, NEC America and Pacific Bell.

Outside of the office, Dan enjoys spending time with his family and overlanding, especially in the Alvord with his friends and family.

Chris Dierks is the Chief Financial Officer of Talus. He has been with the Company for over eleven years and has over twenty-five years of financial experience with medium sized service companies.

Prior to Talus, he was the Chief Financial Officer of Atlantic Aviation, on operator of fixed base operations around the country. During his tenure with Atlantic, the company grew, due to acquisitions and internal growth, from eight locations and $100 million in revenue to 41 locations and over $390 million in revenue.

Prior to Atlantic Aviation, he was a Senior auditor with Arthur Andersen, Accounting Manager with Associates National Mortgage Corporation, and Controller with Smith Alarm Systems. While at Smith Alarm, he was involved in fifteen acquisitions and revenue growth from $18 million to over $40 million.

Mr. Dierks received his B.S. degree in accounting from Regis University and an M.B.A. from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. He is a Certified Public Accountant.

Scott Paape is the SVP of Sales and Operations at Talus. Scott brings a unique look to the payments space from his deep experience holding multiple executive roles at both PepsiCo and Dr Pepper Snapple Group.

Innovation, strategy, and core team development through a lean mindset are foundational to Scott’s business philosophy. The voice of the customer drives Talus’ routes to market, product innovation and customer experience.

Scott’s committed to making sure every Talus client is provided the best customer service in the payments industry. He wants every client to know that they have a “partner for life” in Talus.

VP of Corporate Operations

Danny Shir is the VP of Corporate Operations. He is a seasoned senior leader with extensive experience in the areas of Operations, Risk, Technology, and Strategic Planning.

He started off his career managing operations at Americash LLC, an independent operator of ATMs. Within a fourteen-month period, Americash established a national footprint and was acquired by American Express. He helped grow the American Express ATM Business to be the largest independent (non-bank) deployer of ATMs in the US. He spent eight years at American Express in various roles within the ATM business and as a member of a Six Sigma team within Establishment Services (Merchant Services).

Subsequent to American Express, Mr. Shir became the Chief Security Officer and VP IT of Modern Bank, N.A. At Modern Bank, leading all security and IT related initiatives, served as the IT & security liaison with internal and external auditors as well the governing regulatory body (the OCC), and was a member of the Risk Management Committee.

Danny later moved to Israel, where he joined Israel Credit Cards Ltd. – CAL, an Israeli Acquirer/Issuer. At CAL, he managed domestic risk, for both the issuer and acquirer businesses, as well as risk of a portfolio of European merchants where CAL had a cross-border acquiring license.

Outside of Financial Services, Mr. Shir co-founded two companies, a shopping platform, based on proprietary image recognition technology, and a micro-social network with image editing technology.

Jeff Beene is the Director of Risk, Underwriting, and Compliance of Talus Payments. Prior to his appointment to Talus Payments Jeff served as the Strategic Consulting Executive with Sterling Payment Technologies (acquired by EVO International), Senior Vice President of Risk Management for JetPay Corporation (NASDAQ: JTPY), Executive Vice President of Risk and Chief Compliance Officer for NetSecure Payments, Executive Vice President of Operations of FrontStream Payments, President and Chief Compliance Officer at Pipeline Data Processing (now Priority Payments).

He also held the position of Senior Vice President of Operations at Bridgeview Payment Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bridgeview Bank and Trust (acquired by NPC), Vice President of Risk Management for First Savings Bank Merchant Division (acquired by US Bank) and Director of Security for Benchmark Bank Merchant Division (acquired by Paymentech), earlier in his career.

Mr. Beene is extremely active as a payments industry leader. He is a founding member of the Merchant Acquirer Committee (MAC) which provides universal risk management solutions through ongoing communication and cooperation among acquirers and card associations.

He is actively involved with the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA) having served on the ETA’s risk and fraud management committee as its vice-chairman, and also served on government relations, industry relations and new member committees. Mr. Beene was also active as an executive advisory board member for the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators (IAFCI). He also helped to establish the Federal Trade Commission’s Internet Investigation Training for Credit Card Industry Members program and has been a member of Visa USA and MasterCard International’s fraud reduction committee and counterfeit reduction committee.

With over 25 years of experience in the payments processing industry, Jeff has managed day-to-day operations and been responsible for all the “back-office” performance within and across the company, including strategic vision, implementing the company vision into task and workflow processes, managing cost control, business relationships, loss prevention, compliance regulations, customer satisfaction and risk management while ensuring proficient workflows and solid communication with other key executives of the company.

Leslie Lee is the Director of Human Resources and joined the Talus Leadership Team in 2014 after successful careers with AutoNation and Hard Rock Cafe. Utilizing large corporate experience with dynamic and people-centric strategies, Leslie’s objective as a human resources leader is to create a high-energy work environment that drives productivity, rewards performance and encourages empowerment through our amazing people.

Under new ownership, Talus Payments has made a substantial investment in its employees through benefit offerings and plan structure, implementation to a full HRIS technology platform as well as the augmentation for development with the addition of training. Having the ability to make such a positive difference every day is a driving force for Leslie. She exemplifies her passion for people through her servant leadership style and ever-present smile.

She values Integrity, Commitment and Respect which is exemplified through her work and long-standing professional affiliations.

Leslie enhanced her professional education with an SPHR certification and BSBA degree from Amberton University.

Cindy Thompson is the Vice President of Marketing Centers and Client Services at Talus. In this role, she oversees the call centers that provide inbound and outbound phone, chat and email support to our clients, always focused on increasing the quality of service provided to all of our clients.

Before joining Talus over 10 years ago, she directed operational development and client support with Nestle Toll House Café by Chip as VP of Operations and Support, which followed almost a decade of strategic call center leadership at Comdata Regulatory Compliance.

Outside of the office, Cindy enjoys spending time with her family, working on various do it yourself projects around their home, and volunteering for local charity organizations like Habitat for Humanity.

Chad Vanags is the Chief Marketing Officer at Talus. His number one priority is to help Talus engage with its clients and merchant prospects in a deeper, more meaningful way so that current clients never want to leave Talus and prospective merchants can’t wait to apply.

His top priority is building out online and offline environments that provide more value to Talus clients and prospects than any other payment processor in the industry, with the expectation that they will bring more visitors to the Talus website, will show all merchants that Talus is here to serve them, and will, ultimately, convert more prospective merchants into lifelong Talus clients.

Before joining Talus, he helped multiple online businesses build automated sale and marketing systems and partner programs that improved customer engagement and retention and significantly increased leads and revenue, including HUMAN Healthy Vending/Snacknation, Ecommerce Influence (co-founder), MVMT Watches, Stance Socks, Tipsy Elves, Blenders Eyewear, Klaviyo, and much more.

Outside of the office he enjoys ping pong, eating tacos, camping, ‘shredding the gnar’ (surfing), flying on airplanes, somewhat-dangerous international travel experiences, and all Cleveland sports…and, yes, including the Browns.

Daniel Carleton is the Director of Sales Operations and joined the Talus Payments team in 2012 and is responsible for overseeing all aspects related to sales and business development. With over 15 years of payment processing industry experience, he is helping Talus grow rapidly in the future. He has recruited, trained and developed numerous sales teams nationwide that consistently exceeded sales projections. Daniel attended Colorado University where he studied psychology and computer science.

Director of Card Brand Liaisons & Initiatives

Nancy Barnhart is the Director, Card Brand Liaisons & Initiatives. Nancy brings more than 25 years of experience in the payments industry to her role at Talus. She is widely considered to be an expert in the operational and technical side of payments with credit for introducing many innovative solutions for customers.

Nancy began her payments industry career at Chase Paymentech where she managed their Tampa data center then founded the Advanced Product Group to concentrate on the needs of value-added resellers.

She then turned her talents to Heartland Payments Systems, where she performed product management for card associations and proprietary gateways. She then moved to Pivotal Payments where she was Operations Manager for their office in California and later Vice President for Partner Relationships.

After five years at Pivotal, Nancy moved to New York and joined American Express in 2011. She worked as Senior Manager of Strategy and Business Development for fee-based products. Nancy also managed the brand implementation for American Express’ OptBlue program where acquiring partners can provide direct processing, settlement and payments to merchants doing under $1 million in American Express Card transactions through certified processors.

Nancy received her education at El Paso Community College and the American Institute of Banking. She also studied data communications at AT&T and Tandem Computer systems at Tandem. She holds numerous technical certifications and awards and is a member of the National Association of Professional Women, W-Net, ETA, and many credit card associations.

Outside of the office, Nancy enjoys going to museums, street fairs, wine and food tastings and hanging out with her friends and family.

Juan Espinoza is the Director of Programming & Deployment and brings more than 20 years of experience in the payments industry. He is responsible for overseeing Talus Payments’ deployment of client equipment. Before joining Talus, Juan worked with a few prominent sales organizations where he managed their larger national accounts.

Outside the office, Juan enjoys jogging and spending time with his family.

Corina McCall is the Senior Talent Acquisition Manager and oversees the sales recruitment department at Talus. With more than over 12 years of recruitment management experience she has worked on several valuable projects including recruitment program management, minority leadership, and development initiatives and military recruitment initiatives nationwide.

Before joining Talus, Corina was at Apollo Group where she was responsible for the recruitment of various leveled positions for the mid United States and then advance to national recruitment leadership roles.

Her expertise and commitment to recruitment has allowed her to be recognized as an industry level expert in insurance, academia, sales and various other industries.

Outside of the office Corina is a devoted grandmother who enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering with health care centers in the Dallas area, reading to patients in hospice care, and working out.

She has experience in customer service for over 8 years, 5 of those being in the payments processing industry.

In her spare time, she enjoys kayaking, traveling, and playing video games.

Mike Odrich is a Senior Managing Director and Founder of A&M Capital. Previously, Mr. Odrich was a Managing Director and the Head of the Private Equity business of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. He built, managed and controlled investment oversight of an alternative investment business with 38 different investment strategies and six asset classes, which invested in excess of $20 billion since 2000.

Mr. Odrich served as the senior private equity member of the Lehman Brothers Investment Committee and screening committees for the six asset classes of private equity. He is a former director of RTI Biologics, Inc. and Firth Rixon Ltd. He is a trustee of the Brunswick school.

He is currently a director of Gabriel Brothers, Inc., PureStar Linen Group, Centerra Services, LLC and WHC Energy Services, LLC.

Mr. Odrich holds a BA from Stanford University and an MBA from Columbia University.

David Perskie is a Managing Director of A&M Capital. Since 1997, Mr. Perskie has led or co-led the execution of numerous middle-market transactions across a variety of structures, including leveraged buyouts, mergers, public-to-private acquisitions, leveraged recapitalizations and growth equity investments. His primary areas of industry focus have included consumer products and services, business services, industrial manufacturing, healthcare and energy.

From 2007 to 2010, Mr. Perskie was a Principal with PCG Capital Partners, a private equity firm with $1.0 billion of assets under management with a focus on late-stage growth equity investments in the middle-market. Prior to joining PCG, Mr. Perskie was a Vice President in the Consumer & Retail Group at Gryphon Investors from 2001 to 2007, where he was involved in the sourcing, evaluation, execution and monitoring of leveraged buyout transactions in a variety of industries within the consumer sector. Before that, Mr. Perskie was an Associate at American Industrial Partners, where he evaluated leveraged buyout opportunities within the industrial manufacturing landscape from 1999 to 2001. Mr. Perskie began his career at Interlaken Capital, where he executed growth equity and leveraged buyout investments across multiple industries.

Mr. Perskie is currently a director of Gabriel Brothers, Inc., PureStar Linen Group and WHC Energy Services, LLC.

Mr. Perskie received a Bachelor of Science in Economics, cum laude, from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Rob Haisch is a Principal with A&M Capital. Since 2004, Mr. Haisch has led or co-led the execution of numerous middle-market transactions across a variety of structures, including leveraged buyouts, mergers, leveraged recapitalizations and growth equity investments. His primary areas of industry focus have included business services, transportation and logistics, consumer products and services and healthcare services.

From 2008 to 2014, Mr. Haisch was a Principal with Charterhouse Equity Partners, a private equity firm with a focus on leveraged buyout investments in the middle-market. Prior to joining Charterhouse, Mr. Haisch was a Senior Associate at North Castle Partners from 2004 to 2008, where he was involved in the sourcing, evaluation, execution and monitoring of leveraged buyout transactions across a variety of industries. He began his career in the Syndicated and Leveraged Finance Investment Banking group of J.P. Morgan Securities.

Mr. Haisch holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics, magna cum laude, from Vanderbilt University.

Patrick is the Founder and Managing Partner of Juna Equity Partners, a middle market private equity firm based in New York City with ~$450MM of capital under management.

Prior to establishing Juna in 2015, Patrick was Head of GE Equity, the private equity arm of GE Capital. First in an investment professional role and subsequently as chair of the investment committee, Patrick invested $1.0 BN over 17 years in a broad range of global non-control investments including the industrial, business services, consumer, media, transportation, as well as technology industries. He has served as a director or observer on 21 boards both private and public. Patrick’s time at General Electric Company, the US industrial conglomerate, spanned 24 years in increasing roles of responsibility both domestic and international. He concluded his career as an Executive Band (top 3%) leader at GE Capital.

In his last role there, Patrick was a Senior Managing Director and the Head of GE Equity. He managed the $2.5BN global private equity portfolio consisting of non-control equity stakes and LP commitments. In 2014 and 2015, Patrick led the disposition of GE Equity’s investment portfolio in multiple transactions including the sale of two portfolios, funds and direct investments, to Ardian, a leading secondary private equity firm with over $60BN assets under management.

Patrick and the team at Juna currently oversee the former GE direct portfolio on behalf of Ardian. Further, Juna is now investing out of its 2016 vintage Juna Equity Partners Fund I.

Patrick has a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Boston University and a Master’s degree in International Relations & Finance from the Fletcher School at Tufts University. He is a US and an EU (Austrian) citizen.
